Detailed Storyboards

These are our storyboards

Shooting Schedule

For the first week of filming, we completed the scenes based in the music practice room, along with close-up shots of various performers. We have allocated this week to shooting these scenes as they are easiest to organise the setting. The availability of the theatre and drama studio is limited, as it is the time of year when a lot of events are happening, such as the drama exams and various extra curricular groups who want to use these facilities.

Unfortunately due to the composition of the shots we used, we could not use split screen editing on our clips, so we had to use the next week and a half to re-start all of our filming. We did this within two lessons this week, and worked on Final Cut Express and Imovie HD to get to grips with the software and learn how to split screen edit, as well as standard editing.

We finally learnt to use the Final Cut Express software and eventually discovered how to create a split screen edit. We literally had to cut each shot in half and put them together. We are currently converting the file to a .mov file, as this is the only way we could transfer it into imovie HD and into our project. This didn't work so we had to instead convert to a file that could play using the quicktime player. This took around 20-30 minutes of a lesson, so we had to wait over the weekend to upload it onto a memory stick and onto the iMac we are using. We did this and uploaded the file into imovie. It is now in our timeline and featured in our music video.

We re-drafted the storyboards after deciding that the scene where our main boxhead character would have had to dance in a large circle of people needed to be altered. This was due to the fact that it would be too difficult to film and arrange, therefore we decided instead to go with our character dancing to the music in our college theatre on his own. We have now filmed it from various different angles and utilised the dolly to give the movement of the camera greater stability.

We have finally finished filming and started the editing process using imovie 09 on the macs! and also we have finished our digipak and poster final designs. We just need to print them out and get some feedback :)

We finished editing this week! and currently can't put the video onto Blogger so we uploaded it onto Youtube instead to reach a wider audience :)

CD Cover FRONT TILE Ideas and Annotation

These are the initial ideas for our CD cover front tiles. We chose to use the boxes in the foreground, as this is a prominant theme in our proposed video. The male main character and the female main character both wear boxes on their head with different expressions drawn on them. Which is also why we have decided that to promote the video we must use some synergy and convergence in the form of using recurring themes in the video and on the CD cover.
The variety of different backgrounds such as the faded squares were chosen because of the colours and the style. We felt that the colours needed to be bright and moderately contrasting to reflect the light and upbeat tempo of the song, and by planning a variety of different backgrounds we were able to decide which one would be best suited to the song, and portray the best level of convergence.

Music Video Productivity Log Autumn-Winter Term

Autumn-Winter Half Term;

For this video, we brainstormed various different ideas by listening to the song numerous times and writing up rough drafts of anything that came to mind.

We did this for about 1-2 lessons, and eventually came up with a final draft of our initial idea.

We also started to draw up different ideas for the cd cover and posters

We started to storyboard what ideas we had come up with collectively as a group to see what we felt would go well with the song we had chosen. This was still the first draft of the idea so throughout we were still continuously making adjustments and changes. We all talked about different possibilities of what could be used in our video, such as possible green screen effects for various parts of the sequence, the content of all the shots etc.

During the next week or so we were all working together to produce a more detailed time-line for our project. We wanted to plan out exactly what would be happening and when, without drawing the shots alongside. We did this as it would make it easier for us to create several draft storyboards based on a 'template' so we knew exactly when and how to do things.
Also we started to collate ideas as a group and attempted to create our initial storyboard. We completed our first draft by the end of the week, and we posted it on one of our blogs until a later stage

Throughout the rest of the term we filmed all the shots we could with the facilities such as the theatre and various classrooms throughout the college available to us, uploaded the footage we had onto the iMac we are using and began editing.

Brad Sucks - 'Making Me Nervous' Song Lyrics & Analysis

one step at a time don’t be living on the line
i don’t need a friend i got morbid on the mind
sunshine in my brain making everyone complain
radio in the heart don’t be being so strange

i think i’m losing it baby where you been
everybody says that you’re moving again
i don’t wanna be right baby every single night
i could tell you a thing about taking your time

it’s making me nervous yeah

one step at a time don’t be living on the line
i don’t need a friend i got morbid on the mind
sunshine in my brain making everyone complain
radio in the heart don’t be being so strange

i think i’m losing it baby where you been
everybody says that you’re moving again
i don’t wanna be right baby every single night
i could tell you a thing about taking your time

it’s making me nervous yeah

(instrumental)

i think i’m losing it baby where you been
everybody says that you’re moving again
i don’t wanna be right baby every single night
i could tell you a thing about taking your time

it’s making me nervous yeah

  • We have analysed the song and it contains a bass guitar, electric guitar, drum kit and a vocal part. we have considered these simple concepts and have decided to create our music video based on half-narrative and half performance. The steady tempo of the song will be useful when adding the two separate halves together, as editing on the beat will be made slightly easier. This is because of the calm nature of the song, as it requires little to be happening in each shot. We have decided to use a member of our group as the main focus during the narrative, and this means that we will know how we want certain things to be done, so the final product will be exactly how we collectively invisaged.
